Erik Ross awarded rank of Eagle Scout
New Eagle Scout Erik Ross PHOTO/SUBMITTED Westborough - Boy Scout Troop 100 of Westborough will award the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout to Erik E. Ross Saturday Jan. 3 in a 2 p.m. ceremony at the Evangelical Congregational Church of Westborough, which is the chartering organization for the troop. Erik can claim the distinction of being the 100th scout to earn the rank of Eagle in Troop 100's 85 years of existence.
Erik joined Boy Scout Troop 100 in 2001 after crossing over from Westborough Cub Scout Pack 100. In seven years with the troop, he has progressed through the ranks of Boy Scouts, earning a total of 21 merit badges and has held several leadership positions including Patrol Leader and Troop Scribe.
Erik has participated in numerous Troop 100 camping trips including trips to Hemenway State Forest in New Hampshire, Mount Greylock State Reservation and Nickerson State Park. He also attended a special Regional Boy Scout Camporee at West Point.
For his Eagle Project, Erik led a team of volunteers to restore and repaint classrooms in the nursery school at the Evangelical Congregational Church. He organized volunteers to properly remove old paint material and prepare and paint the walls, cabinets, windows and doors of the classrooms. In addition, several existing murals were meticulously cleaned and restored. Over 100 hours were donated to complete the project.
Erik is the son of Jodi and George Ross and is currently in his senior year at Westborough High School. He enjoys a number of activities and hobbies including skiing, hiking, photography, cooking, running, swimming and dancing. His community service includes participating in Relay for Life, Peer Leaders and Interact.
