Historical Society holds 'Festival of Trees'
SUBMITTED Marlborough Savings Bank receives the "Best of Show" tree award at a special Marlborough Historical Society event during the holiday season. Marlborough - The Marlborough Historical Society in conjunction with Olde Marlborough Inc. held their first "Christmas at the Farm: Festival of Trees" at the Captain Peter Rice Homestead, 377 Elm St., Marlborough, during the holiday season.
The event featured 18 different themed artificial Christmas trees decorated by sponsors and society members. The trees were raffled off and there were also crafts, wreaths, candy, baked goods, gingerbread and hot drinks.
Tree awards were presented to the following Tree Sponsors/Designers: Best of Show and Best Tree Skirt went to "Winter Splendor" by Marlborough Savings Bank; Most Beautiful and Creative went to "Let it Snow" by the Cottage Children's Center; Most Unique was awarded to "Coffee" by Starbucks; Best Traditional was given to "Angels on High" by the First Baptist Brazilian Church of Marlboro; and Best Children's Theme went to "Candy Land" by Margaret Dwyer and the Hogan family.
