Area Book Illustrator to speak at SPL

Atlantic Union College art professor Wayne Hazen, who recently published a new illustrated edition of Lancaster colonist Mary Rowlandson’s 1682 memoir of King Philip’s War, will show his artwork and discuss his book starting at 7 p.m. at the Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St. To illustrate the book, Hazen drew some 400-plus pen-and-ink drawings, some of which he will showcase in his Shrewsbury talk. New England Balladeer Sings History Alive

A Lenten tenebrae service, "The Shadow of the Cross," will be presented at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury. Alcohol Dependence Counseling for Women

The Couples Project for Women (CPW) offers free treatment for women with alcohol dependence that are married or live with a male partner. Weekly one-on-one outpatient therapy for 5 to 6 months promotes women’s recovery. Some women also receive couples counseling to promote recovery and improve communication. Safe Place Support Group

The Hudson Maynard Adult Learning Center offers a free GED preparation program in Hudson, including ABE classes in Basic Skills, pre-GED and GED. Registration is ongoing.
