Mayor thanks community members To the Editor: On behalf of the City of Marlborough, I want to extend my thanks for the efforts of over 200 volunteers who spent Saturday, May 2, 2009, collecting trash from our streets, parks and neighborhoods throughout the city. This year's Clean Sweep team collected 6.06 tons of trash and 120 lbs of recyclable material. We should all be proud of this effort. We want recognize and specifi- cally thank several companies who coordinated their employees to help including Raytheon, Dow Chemical, Hewlett Packard and Boston Scientifi c. The Fontaine Tree and Landscape Co. and Allied Waste are to be thanked for donating their time and trucks to help pick up the collected trash. Price Chopper and Dunkin' Donuts provided refreshments and Mass Highway District 3 provided the yellow bags. Many clubs and organizations participated including the Boys and Girls Club, Girl Scouts, ARRT Inc, the French Hill Neighborhood Association, Fort Meadow Association, city staff and City Councilors, to name a few. We also want to thank Brian Palmer for sorting out the recyclable materials. We are grateful for all the volunteers who helped in this effort. Everyone pitched in and Marlborough looks cleaner and brighter thanks to the many helping hands. Thank you! Nancy E. Stevens Mayor Marlborough
