The Big Read Film Festival at Shrewsbury Public Library

The second film in the Shrewsbury Public Library’s the Big Read film festival will be shown at 7 p.m. at the library, 609 Main St. This week's offering is 1956’s “Friendly Persuasion,” a heart-warming, Civil War-era, family-oriented movie about the day-to-day experiences of a Quaker family living in Indiana in 1862 and their reactions to worldly temptations, petty feuds and their religious beliefs in a time of crisis. Marching Band Jamboree at Westborough High School

The Westborough Rangers Marching Band will host a musical jamboree from 12-1:30 p.m. at the Westborough High School football field, 90 West Main St. The event will also feature performances by the high school marching bands from Chelmsford and Millbury. The show will begin with a parade of the bands around the high school track and each band will then perform on the football field. A 50/50 raffle will be held, and refreshments will be available for purchase at the concession stand next to the field. Health Care Seminar at Grace Baptist Church
