Group honors Marlborough, Hudson veterans

Marlborough/Hudson - Rocco Addeo, a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy and present chaplain of the Marlborough VFW Post 638, looks over the Marlborough Historical Society’s 400-foot-long “Salute to Veterans” exhibit Nov. 7 at the Marlborough Senior Center, 250 Main St. The display, installed to commemorate Veterans Day, includes 855 service announcements clipped from the local newspaper and scrapbooked by Ruth Colena.

PHOTO/JENNIFER MACNEIL Ruth Colena’s book was found in the attic of her barn by her daughterin law Nancy Ahlgren Colena and was donated to the Historical Society in 2008.

This year, Society Trustee Glenn Foley scanned, printed and created a database and display of Hudson’s World War II service announcements and added them to the society’s “Salute to Veterans” exhibit.
