Local artist selected for Paradise City Arts Festival

Region - Westborough resident Sandra McCaw, a jewelry maker, was selected from nearly 1,000 applicants to participate in the Paradise City Arts Festival, the weekend of Nov. 20 through 22, at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough.

A distinguished jury of arts professionals viewed 5,000 images last April in a painstaking review process, choosing 171 artists from across America for the show. The applicants’ work was judged on the basis of imagination, technical excellence, design and originality. The original works are in art glass, ceramics, painting, decorative fiber, fine furniture, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, photography, largescale sculpture, wearable art and wood.

Live jazz will waft through the Exhibition Hall from the Sculpture Café, with a diff erent band each day playing. A coat check and holiday gift wrap station will benefit the Marlborough Public Schools Music Association, which supports music programs in the public schools.

The Royal Plaza Trade Center is located at 181 Boston Post Road West (Route 20W) in Marlborough.

Hours are Friday Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for students, $15 for a weekend pass; and children under 12 are admitted free. The building is handicapped accessible.
