Westborough students celebrate winter with indoor festival of fun Westborough - Take a break from the chill Saturday Feb. 6 and take the kids to Westborough High School for the annual Winter Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival, held in the gym, off ers booths for face-painting, temporary tattoos, sand art, and more. Sponsored by the school’s Student Council, the annual event will feature two full-size moon bounces and plenty of refreshments, said Liz Callahan, a junior and student council communications director. “We had a great time last year, and there was a good turnout,” Callahan said, noting that the event is similar to fall Homecoming, only in the winter. “Winter Carnival is always a fun event for us to organize because it brings a nice spark into the usually dull chilly season.” More than 40 members of the Student Council are involved in the event, as are members of many other clubs in the High School. There is no admission fee for the festival, but the diff erent activities and booths require a fee or tickets. “All the diff erent clubs in the school come,” Callahan said. “It’s an opportunity for them to raise money for their causes.” Sophomore Amy Haskell is chairing this year’s carnival, and the theme is winter, Callahan said. “It’s all cold outside but then we come together and have this fun day,” Callahan said. “We made all these snowflakes, and we hung them up everywhere. It’s kind of like a winter wonderland without the cold.” |
