Time has come for new Sherwood Middle School To the Editor:There are times in our lives when we have decisions to make. Now is the time for a new Sherwood Middle School. We have a tired facility with leaks in the front office, gym, and the portable classrooms, plus masonry walls that cannot be moved at a low cost. In addition, due to small space in the ceilings, there is too little to no opportunity to insert new ductwork. There are only four bathrooms for 900 students and not enough space in the cafeteria for students to eat at an appropriate time. The State has approved a new building and will invest 54 percent of the $46.8 million cost. We have state funding for this project. Why would we spend a minimum of $21.8 million on a structure that will remain overcrowded and require on-going maintenance year after year?
Please vote YES for a new Sherwood Middle School on March 2. |
