Lieutenant governor tours construction projects

Staff Report

Hudson - Lt. Gov. Tim Murray visited Hudson this week to speak with local official s abou t transportation projects. He also toured the Houghton Street Bridge and the site of the Route 85 reconstruction project. In a meeting organized by State Rep. Kate Hogan and State Sen. Jamie Eldridge, Murray recognized the importance of the construction projects.

“It makes a huge diff erence from a public safety perspective,” he said.

Hogan, who, along with Eldridge has been working with state official s t o mov e th e projects forward, was glad the lieutenant governor had the opportunity to see the construction sites first hand.

“He’s getting a ground-level view of these projects and their importance to the community,” she said.

The meeting and tour also gave local Hudson official s the opportunity to make their case for an expedited project timeline directly to the lieutenant governor. They stressed the importance of the projects not only to the local infrastructure, but also to the local economy.

“Helping connect town offi- cials with state government and ensuring that their concerns are heard is one of the important roles I have as a state legislator,” Eldridge said. “I was happy to work with Rep. Hogan to help make that connection between the town of Hudson and Lt. Governor Tim Murray last Friday, and I hope this visit will help bring more attention to the infrastructure needs in Hudson.”

The meeting and tour was also attended by Hudson Community Development Director Michelle Ciccolo, Hudson Selectman James Vereault and Chair of Hudson’s Economic Development Commission Don Garcia.
