Shrewsbury was incorporated in 1727.
Shrewsbury is approximately 21.6 square miles and as of 2010, had a population of 35,608.
It is part of Worcester County and its form of government is Town Meeting, with elected members. Shrewsbury’s administration is comprised of a Town Manager and Board of Selectmen.
Between Shrewsbury and neighboring Worcester is Lake Quinsigamond, which once was a popular resort destination. It still serves as a center of boating activity for many. Shrewsbury’s past includes success in the leather and sawmill industries; now, it is starting to become home to an increasing number of retail and bio-technology companies.
