Sports honor rolls: League all-stars

Region – Academics have the honor roll and high school sports has league allstars. The spring season was loaded with many outstanding local performances as the Class of 2007 helped rewrite the sports record books.

Highlighting the list were, of course, state championships for the Hudson's girls softball team and state final appearances by Algonquin's baseball team and Westborough's boys tennis team.

And while team accomplishments are always on the top of the list, there are moments to take notice of outstanding individual accomplishments, thus our spring '07 sports honor roll, league all-stars.

Colonial Athletic league baseball stars included Assabet Valley's Matt Magazine, Cory Cheney, Adam Ryan, Nick Ferrera, Justin Fournier and Peter Richardson. Hudson Catholic stars included Shane Penzone, Joe Manzella, Will Garner and Brian O'Leary.

Sticking with baseball, Mid-Wach A stars included, from the state finalist Algonquin Tomahawks, Kevin Brown, Neil Hesek, John McKenna, Rob Nicholas and Dave Teggart. McKenna was also named league co-MVP. Shrewsbury's Brian Annukonis, Dean Diamantopoulos, Peter Grillo and Brian Jackson were A-division stars.

Marlborough's Matt Berte, Garrett Butt, Shane Campbell, Austin Harvey, Wes Russell and John Tunnera joined Westborough's Andy Bower, Alex Dion, Kyle Garry and A.J. Rouleau. Berte also commanded MVP honors for Mid-Wach B.

Mid-Wach C all-stars included Hudson's Evan Childs, Ross Hayden, Matt Jacobs, Corey McDonald and Mike Wood.

Hudson girls were the big softball winners this spring locally bringing home the state D2 championship. Hawks' Mid-Wach C allstars included MVP Kaitlin Andrews, Kristen Bowen, Laura Bowen, Lori DeArcangelis, Cristy Jenkins, Amanda Lambert and Jamie Millett.

Mid-Wach A all-stars included Algonquin's Carolyn Whittier, and Shrewsbury's Amanda Additays (also MVP), Christine D'Amico, Kristen LeMay, Chelsi Panarelli and Lindsi Panarelli.

Mid-Wach B honors go to Marlborough's Jessie Bryant and Kelsey Rudzinsky, and Westborough's Emma Bergstrom and Nora Carroll.

Boys tennis stars include Algonquin's Nate Davis, Josh Jordan and Ethan Miller; Shrewsbury's Brad Aymes, Nisary Chaya, Ted Slesor and A.J. Shekar; Marlborough's Brian Stunder; Westborough's David Levine, Jamie Lown, Chris Dragoon (MPV), Josh Hurwitz, Jason Lemack, Josh Lurier and Zach O'Leary; and Hudson's Ryan Waingortin.

Girls tennis all-stars include Algonquin's Mikaela Stamas (also Mid-Wach A MVP), Stephanie Lewko and Caroline Sarris; Shrewsbury's Marissa Casillo and Amanda Wheeler; Marlborough's Shereen Sairafiand Michelle Vinci; Westborough's Marybeth Ash (Mid-Wach B MVP), Cameron Crowder, Alexa Ebert and Courtney Tanner; and Hudson's Meagan Carney and Jacqui Rossignol.

Boys Mid-Wach volleyball all-stars included Algonquin's Tim Deschamps and Jared Tetrault and Marlborough's Kevin Albrecht, Chris Scanlon and Enardo Souza.

Boys track all-stars included Algonquin's Michael Bisset, Evan Donadt, Nick Gatto, Harrison Gore, Jason Kody, Jeff Hollander, Brian Racca and Matt Rossetti; Shrewsbury's Justin Bartkiewicz, Mike Chapin, Chris Coates, Sami Elhajjajy, Jimmy Flynn, Anthony Frissora, Davin Merullo and Steve Pawlik; Marlborough's Matt Melvin, Andrew Oram and Michael Salvucci; and Westborough's Dave Brown, Jeff Bush, Matt Feresten, Connor Nolan, Peter Orlando, Alex Price, Andrew Shea, Forest Xiao, and Matija Zelic. Hudson boys track stars include Ryan Barry, Steve Delaney, Patrick Grogan, Geoff King, Sean Mayer, David Opp, Pat Tomczyk and Brian Vinciullo.

Girls track stars include Algonquin's Rachael Ackley, Gillian Carlucci, Faith Clay- ton, Dana Clowes, Liz Crowley, Tiffany Daley, Kaylee DeVincent, Danielle DePalo, Rhian Duggan, Emily Lemmerman, Christy Loftus and Allison Trzaskos; Shrewsbury's Stephanie Aguguo, Angela Clarke, Ashlyn Derosier, Alma Dwumfour, Kristin Ross and Brooke Scibelli; Marlborough's Cathy Chude, Christina Kunycky, Alyson Oram, Lauren Papalia, Kim Urena and Cathy Withers; Westborough's Kimmie Ardvison, Lizzy Carleton, Kelly Engelking, Oma Feighery, Caitlin Piper, Kathryn Wilchinski and Amy Wilfert; and Hudson's Paige Bronner, Lindsay Campbell, Sarah Colaianni and Kristalena Lamore.
