Marjorie J. Hendrix, 74


Northborough – Marjorie J. (Sutherland) Hendrix, 74, died peacefully at home Thursday, June 21, 2007. Her husband, Roy Hendrix, died in 1980.

She leaves her children, Stephen Hendrix and his wife, Jeanne; Gary Hendrix and his wife, Kathy; David Hendrix and his wife, Darcie; and Wanda Hendrix and her husband, Doug Johnson. She was the loving grandmother of six grandchildren, Melissa, William, Samantha, Rebecca, Trevor and Corey, and also leaves her siblings, Parker Sutherland, Shirley Nason, Betty Miller and Florence MacLean, and nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Portage Lake, Maine, she was the daughter of Carroll and June (Wilcox) Sutherland. She proudly graduated in 1950 from Ashland High School in Maine and moved to Massachusetts at age 18. She had lived in Northborough since 1963.

Mrs. Hendrix was employed as a customer service coordinator for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Westborough for 10 years before retiring. Prior to Liberty Mutual, she worked many years as night manager of the 7-11 store in Marlborough on the 11-7 shift.

She loved helping people and volunteered her services in many areas throughout her community. She was an active volunteer at the Northborough Senior Center, as well as a volunteer for many functions and events held at the Trinity Church. In addition, she was a volunteer fund-raiser for the American Liver Foundation and most recently helped with the Fairy Godmother Project in Marlborough. She was a close "friend of Bill" for many years.

A funeral service was held June 25 from Hays Funeral Home of Northborough, with burial at Howard Street Cemetery.
