Middle school deals with knife incident

Shrewsbury – An Oak Middle School student allegedly brought three knives into school June 8 and gave two of them to classmates before being caught. According to a letter sent to families by Oak Middle School Principal Christopher Starczewski, the student who brought the knives showed them to several classmates. He then gave two of the knives to two classmates, keeping one on his person.

The incident was reported to school administrators after students brought it to the attention of a teacher. After intervening, confiscating the knives and investigating, the school administration informed the parents of the incident and enacted disciplinary action against each student involved, according to the letter. The student who brought in the knives did not make any specific threat.

“This appears to have been an unfortunate and poorly thought out action by the students involved,” said Starczewski in the letter.
