Hudson – At its March 28 meeting, the Board of Selectmen discussed an application for a Class I License for Galen Miller of M-Squared Motorsports, LLC, doing business as Bikeworx. Miller was applying for the license, which would allow him to buy and sell motorcycles, scooters, ATVs and other motorized recreational vehicles at 1 Kane Industrial Dr.
“I got a few questions from e-mail regarding the generation of noise,” Selectman Santino Parente said to Miller during the discussion.
After Miller assured the board that noise would be kept to a minimum, that all repairs to vehicles would be conducted indoors, and merchandise would be kept outside on display only during business hours, the board unanimously approved the license.
The board also debated whether to conduct a hearing into possible violations of the alcoholic beverages pouring licenses held by Yours & Mine II at 174 Main St.
The town's Executive Assistant Paul Blazar told the board, “We have various reports of violations at this location.”
The selectmen, noting that the alleged violations were in prior years, motioned to table their decision to conduct the hearing, with three selectmen voting in favor to do so and two abstaining.
The board also approved a one-day wine and malt pouring license for Creedon & Co., Inc. for a private party to be held at the Roller Kingdom, 5 Highland Park Ave. Saturday, April 9.
In other business, the board approved contracts totaling more than $100,000, with $28,139 going to Powerbilt Steel Buildings, Inc. of Virginia for a sand storage structure; $39,587 to United Concrete Products of Connecticut for an altitude-regulating valve for the Lakeview Water Tank; and $33,586 to Concrete Systems of New Hampshire for a box culvert and appurtenances. The selectmen also approved a Snow & Ice Overdraft authority totaling $15,573, which elicited a wishful response from Selectmen Chair Antonio Loura.
“Hopefully this will be the last one,” he said.
Personnel appointments by the selectmen included the appointment of Leslie Boardman as inspector of animals and Jennifer Condon as assistant inspector of animals, both with terms expiring in April 2012, and the re-appointment of Anne G. O”Connor to a three-year term, which expires in March 2014, on the Board of Registrars, The selectmen also approved the appointment of Charles Corley to the Council on Aging and the appointment of part-time Reserve Police Offi cer Ashley Riberio.
Other action taken by the board included approval of water conservation measures from May 1 to Sept. 10 consisting of alternate-day non-essential outdoor use between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m., and the acceptance of a $500 grant to the Fire Department from Wal-Mart. The board also signed a Chapter 90 Project request for road repairs and construction on Cottage and Wilson streets. Selectman Charles McGourty, who voted against the measure, argued that there that were other streets in greater need of repair than those in that project.
