LETTER: Shrewsbury resident endorses DePalo

32

To the Editor,

It has been my pleasure to know Moe DePalo for many years, professionally, personally and through Shrewsbury Town Government. Moe's many years as a Selectman have served Shrewsbury well. He is very knowledgeable, sincere, and hard working in his service to our town. Shrewsbury has among the finest schools and municipal services in Massachusetts, coupled with one of the lowest tax rates, due in large part to Moe's eighteen years serving as a Selectman.

In meetings with the Selectmen, I have found that Moe DePalo has a vast wealth of knowledge of Massachusetts” regulations and town finances. More importantly though, he employs a good-natured, polite demeanor to achieve compromise among the varied interests. Although our budgeting has been very difficult in Shrewsbury these past few years, residents have not seen a reduction in services. Through regionalization, privatization, and economies of shared duties among the various departments, Shrewsbury gets a lot of bang for very little buck. Moe DePalo has been a leader in these efforts.

It would be a grave shame if our town lost his valuable leadership as we continue to weather these turbulent economic times. For that reason I proudly endorse and urge my fellow Shrewsburians to vote for my colleague and friend Moe DePalo for Selectman in the May 3rd Annual Town Election.
