Charles Pollak of Southborough deployed to Afghanistan

Southborough – Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Charles R. Pollak, a 1999 graduate of Saint Mark's High School in Southborough, along with fellow Marines attached to 2nd Battalion, 14th Marines, Battery K, stationed in U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Training in Huntsville, Ala., recently deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).

Marines assigned to a firing battery are responsible for moving, loading, firing, protecting and maintaining the cannon weapon systems.

Battery K will provide rocket and missile fire support for Marine Air-Ground Task Force ( MAGTF) and Joint Task Force ( JTF) operations in support of OEF.

Pollak joined the Marine Corps Reserve in October 2009.
