Keith Lane, 78Northborough – Keith Lane, 78, died Monday June 6, 2011 after a short battle with esophageal cancer.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Teresa (Jones) Lane; his son, Darren Lane of Maynard and Christina Varney of Hudson; his daughter, Debra Davison and husband Benjamin of Northborough; five grandchildren, Rachel Dacri, Jennifer Lane, Thomas Lane, Abigail Davison and Benjamin Davison; a brother, Donald Lane and wife Margaret of England; and many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Lancashire, England, son of the late Thomas and Mary (Stanley) Lane, he spent two years serving in the Royal Air Force and was an accomplished rugby player. He moved from England to Northborough in 1967.

Mr. Lane worked at Heald Machine in Worcester as a supervisor for 22 years and then worked at American Superconductor in Westborough until his retirement in 1995.

He was a member of St. Bernadette Church and Greendale Men's Club, and was a Senior Advocate and an active member in Northborough's Senior Center. He enjoyed dancing, music, traveling and marquetry. He was an avid Celtics and Patriots fan.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday June 11, at 10 a.m., in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
