Hudson – Helena (Chaves) Carvalho, 87, died Saturday June 25, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, at Marlborough Hospital. She was the wife of 29 years to the late Agostinho A. Sousa, who died in 1984.
Born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Jose C. and Antonia (Tavares) Chaves, she moved to Hudson in 1990 and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her three children, Lurdes Carvalho and her husband Antonio of Hudson, Jose Sousa and his wife Maria of Canada, Natalia Carvalho and her husband David of Hudson; her two sisters, Maria Cabral of Canada, Conceicao Cabral of Portugal; and her eight grandchildren, Nelson, Danny, Kevin, Michelle, Lesley, Vanessa, Ashley and Cassandra.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday June 30, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson.
