Ann V. Moran, 92Shrewsbury – Ann V. (Zakas) Moran, 92, a resident of the Southgate Community, died Saturday July 2, 2011 in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus after a short illness. Her husband, Dr. William A. Moran, died in 1960.

She leaves her beloved niece, Judith A. Burke and her husband James of Milford. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Nellie (Lisauskas) Zakas, and a brother, John A. Zakas.

Born in Cambridge and raised in Worcester, she graduated from Commerce High School and Becker College, both in Worcester. She lived in Washington D.C. all of her professional life until she retired and then moved back to Massachusetts to be closer to her family.

Mrs. Moran was a dedicated secretary for many years, retiring in 1981 as the secretary to the Secretary of State. She also served for over 30 years as a personal and executive secretary to various diplomats and ambassadors to the United States and served in many foreign countries, including, Germany, France, China, Iran, Israel, England, Greece and Italy.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday July 7, at 11 a.m., in Saint John's Church, 44 Temple St., Worcester. There are no calling hours. Friday July 8, she will be buried next to her husband William at Saint Luke's Church Cemetery in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John's Church, Food for the Poor, 44 Temple St., Worcester, MA 01604.
