Marlborough – George A. Brennan, 82, died Sunday July 3, 2011, at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center after an illness.

He leaves his brother, Robert E. Brennan, and two sisters, Dorothy McNally and Mildred McCarthy, all of Marlborough. He also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Matthew “Joe” Brennan, Marjorie Bruso, Leo Brennan, Walter Brennan and William Brennan.

Born in Medford, son of the late Matthew J. and Edna E. (Regan) Brennan, he was a lifelong resident of Marlborough and a 1948 graduate of Marlborough High School.

Mr. Brennan was employed for over 33 years in the Marlborough City Water Department, retiring in 1993. He was an avid wood worker and had his own little woodshop in his garage. In his early years he was a very good golfer. Most of all he was the one that keeped the family together by traveling and taking photoes of all the family events throught the years.

Following cremation, a funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday July 9, at 10 a.m., at St. Matthias Church,409 Hemenway St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery of Marlborough. A calling hour for relatives and friends will be held at St. Matthias Church from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to Mass for relatives and friends. The John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc. of Marlborough is directing arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 311 Arsenal St., Watertown,MA 02472.
