Shrewsbury – Joanne “Joan” (DeSimone) Quitadamo, 78, passed away Sunday July 10, 2011. Joanne's husband of 51 years, Ralph A. Quitadamo, passed away in 2005.
She leaves two sons, Ralph M. Quitadamo and his wife Linda of Millbury and Steven J. Quitadamo of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Susan H. Quitadamo and Lori J. Armendo both of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren she adored and whom adored her, Anthony and Christopher Armendo of Shrewsbury and Michael Quitadamo, Lyle White and his wife Margarita all of Millbury; two brothers, Joseph and Richard DeSimone, both of Worcester; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Born in Worcester, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Berkiel) DeSimone, she graduated from Commerce High School in 1951 and had lived in Shrewsbury most of her life.
Mrs. Quitadamo worked as an office assistant for State Mutual Insurance Company until her children were born. She later worked with her husband when he established Quitadamo Distributors in the early 1980s.
She was a typical Italian mother and grandmother, giving much love and devotion to her family. They were her joy and inspiration. She cherished the times she would cook, bake and share time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. She also enjoyed bowling and received many awards for her high scores.
Her funeral Mass will be held Wednesday July 13, at 11 a.m., in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St., Worcester. Burial next to her husband will follow in St John's Cemetery.
