John J. Kelly, 74Northborough – John “Jack” J. Kelly, 74, died Sunday July 24, 2011, at Beaumont of Northborough after a lengthy illness.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Elaine L. (Fasano) Kelly; two sons, Stephen P. Kelly and his wife Diane of Northborough and Brian F. Kelly and his wife Laurie of Jacksonville, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Jessica L. Kelly and John J. Kelly II of Northborough and Emma V. Kelly and Ekaterina E. Kelly of Jacksonville.

Born and raised in Boston, the son of Patrick J. and Anna (Crowley) Kelly, he lived in Northborough since 1963. He graduated from Boston English High School in 1954 and Boston University with a B.A. in psychology, and attended the University of Illinois graduate school of industrial relations. He served in the Massachusetts National Guard and Army Reserve.

Mr. Kelly was employed as Vice President for Insurance Marketing Agency of Worcester for 33 years, retiring in 2002. He worked for the former William Pollock Insurance Advisors in Worcester and, in the 1960s, worked at Wyman-Gordon in Grafton and Worcester as an Industrial Engineer.

Years ago, he coached Northborough Youth Baseball and was an assistant coach for Northborough Youth Hockey. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and Northborough Lions Club. He was an avid history buff.

Calling hours are Wednesday July 27, from 5 to 7 p.m., in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. His funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday July 28, at 10 a.m., in St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
