Gilbert C. Frias, 48Hudson – Gilbert C. Frias, 48, a well-known musician and lifelong resident of Hudson, died unexpectedly Wednesday Aug. 3, 2011, at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester.

Born in Marlborough and raised in Hudson, he was the son of the late Antonio Frias and is survived by his mother, Maria (Chaves) Frias of Hudson. He attended local schools and was a 1980 graduate of Hudson High School.

Mr. Frias was employed by the S&F Concrete Co. in Hudson and also was a talented musician who performed as a “one man band” locally and abroad. He enjoyed music and especially enjoyed performing locally at the Hudson Portuguese Club, sharing his musical talents with guests for all occasions including weddings, festivals and other social events. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson and member of the Hudson Portuguese Club.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his six brothers, Antonio Frias and his wife Maria Manuela, Joseph Frias and his wife Joanne, Manuel Frias and his wife Aldora, Armindo Frias and his wife Joanne, Dennis Frias, and David Frias, all of Hudson; and his three sisters, Maria DaSilva and her husband Aluisio, Rosa Garcia and her husband Luis, all of Hudson, and Theresa Frias of Marlborough. He was the brother of the late John Frias, Steven Frias, Lena Frias and Isabel Leandres. He is also survived by his 34 nieces and nephews, 50 grandnieces and nephews, and three great-grandnieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday Aug. 8, at 11 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery of Hudson. Calling hours will be held Sunday Aug. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central St., Hudson.
