Marlborough – Bernard A. O’Leary, 84, died Wednesday Aug. 3, 2011, at Bernard A. O’Leary, 84Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center after an illness.

He leaves his children; Bernard A. O’Leary Jr. and his wife Sandy of Lahabra Heights, Calif.; Michael J. O’Leary and his wife Diane of Southborough; Margaret A. Day and her husband Robert of Unity, N.H.; Ann N. Moore and her husband James of Marlborough; John F. O’Leary of Marlborough; Patrick J. O’Leary and his wife Snooky of Simi Valley, Calif.; Sally A. Haley of Springfield, Vt.; and Sue M. O’Connor and her husband Paul of Sturbridge. He also leaves a sister, Louise Joyce of Rye Beach, N.H.; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was father of the late Kathleen L. O’Leary, brother of the late Carl, Catherine, Eugene, Paul, Anna and Dorothy, and former husband of the late Eunice M. (Rock) O’Leary.

Born in Pepperell, the son of the late Cornelius A. and Cecilia M. (Hemlow) O’Leary, he had lived in Marlborough for the past 55 years. He was a graduate of Pepperell High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. O”Leary was a self-employed carpenter who specialized in aluminum siding homes and businesses. He also painted homes when not siding. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Groton-Pepperell and was a friend of Bill 14.

He loved to cook, especially his world famous western omelets for his children and later his grandchildren. He enjoyed taking long walks all over Marlborough, going to Suffolk Downs and going to Raynham. He also was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday Aug. 13, at 9 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial with military honors will take place Tuesday Aug.1 6, at 10:30 a.m., at the V.A. National Cemetery in Bourne. The John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc. of Marlborough is directing arrangements. There were no calling hours.
