EDITORIAL: ‘Dam’ beavers cause floodingSouthborough – There's a lot to admire about the beaver's industrious and tenacious work ethic. Unfortunately those same traits can be problematic when homeowners discover, thanks to a beaver dam, their property is now flooded. But state laws forbid trapping and killing the critters unless the local board of health deems it an emergency.

That was the case recently in Southborough when town officials said they had no other choice after residents in the Wood Street neighborhood, which borders the Sudbury River, complained that continued flooding caused by beaver dams was starting to impact their septic systems and homes.
