Shrewsbury – Kevin J. Phillips, 28, formerly of Westborough, passed away peacefully at home Saturday Aug. 13, 2011, Kevin J. Phillips. 28surrounded by his loving family.

Born Oct. 10, 1982, in Portsmouth, Virginia, he was raised and educated in Westborough and graduated from Westborough High School in 2000. During his high school years, he played on the football and baseball team. He also attended and graduated from the Rob Roy Academy in Worcester. He has been a resident of Shrewsbury for one year, previously living in Holden and Westborough.

Mr. Phillips was a barber at Hats Off in Northborough. He enjoyed all sports, especially softball and golf.

He is survived by his mother, Arlene M. Phillips of Holden; two sisters, Jessica L. Phillips and Candice A. Phillips, both of Holden; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Priscilla Federici of Westborough; his devoted girlfriend, Theresa O”Doherty and her son Jake O”Doherty of Shrewsbury; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday Aug. 17, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery of Sterling. Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Tuesday Aug. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kevin J. Phillips Fund at any Sovereign Bank. Donations will be split between a trust fund for Jake O”Doherty and a donation in Mr. Phillips” name to the UMass Cancer Center, where he was so well taken care of.
