Marlborough – Salvatore Tummino, 82, died early Wednesday morning Aug. 10, 2011, after being stricken ill earlier in the week. He was the husband of Carmela (Bottari) Tummino, to whom he was married for 50 years.

Born in Barrafranca, Sicily, the son of the late Salvatore and Angela (Russo) Tummino, he had lived in Italy and Revere before moving to Marlborough 14 years ago. He was a veteran of the Italian Armed Forces.

Mr. Tummino was employed as an engineering technician for the Raytheon Co. for 25 years. He was a member of St. Matthias Parish, and a member of the former St. Ann's Parish, both of Marlborough. While living in Revere, he was a member of St. Anthony's Parish and was a former president and active member of the Holy Name Society of the parish.

He is survived by four sons, Anthony of Hudson, Peter of Lower Gwynedd, Penn., John of Rowley and Michael of Maynard; one brother, Angelo of Everett; one sister, Josephina Canale of Italy; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Joanne Green, in 1997 and a brother, Charles.

Funeral services were held Aug. 13 from the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home of Marlborough, with a funeral Mass in St. Matthias Church and burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
