Westborough – Providing the weather remains rain-free, paving along South Street from School Street to about Denny Street will resume Monday Aug. 22, at 6:30 a.m.
During this time, South Street will be open to local traffic as far as School Street. At School Street, South Street (Route 135) will then be detoured through Denny Street to Ruggles Street, to West Main Street, and vice versa. This is the same detour route used in the past and will be marked by signs. Maple Street and Ruggles Pond Road will need to move out early, as this section will likely be closed until 5 p.m.
Tuesday Aug. 23, paving will resume along South Street from Denny Street to Hopkinton Road. No detour will occur, but delays should be expected as inbound/outbound traffic is switched back and forth. Downtown center and South Street will be fully open.
Wednesday Aug. 24, paving will be completed for the last segment, continuing along Upton Road from South as far as Morse Street, with Upton Road detoured through Morse and Warren streets. South Street will remain fully open.
Exemptions to taking the detours will be safety vehicles and U.S. Mail, which will be allowed through. Anyone with special needs should call the DPW at 1-508-366-3070 to make arrangements.
