Mary A. BiscottiWorcester – Mary A. (D’Elia) Biscotti, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed on to eternal life with our Lord Sunday Aug. 21, 2011, with family by her side, in the Christopher House in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, John “Dom” Biscotti, in 2001.

She is survived by her son, John R. Biscotti and his wife, Patricia, of Leominster; a grand-daughter, Michelle of Gardner and her companion, Dennis Proietti, and her two children, Rosemary and her companion, Mark Sawyer, of Florida, and Vincent and his wife, Katrina, both stationed with the Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif.; a grandson, John M. Biscotti, his wife, Michelle, and their two children, Anthony and Dominic, of Shrewsbury; her sister, Ann D. Iandoli of Worcester; a brother, Charles D’Elia and his wife, Clara, of Shrewsbury; her 102-year-old Aunt Lena D’Elia; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special lifelong friend, Sissy Bucciaglia, and other residents of the Mount Carmel Apartments. She was predeceased by a great-grandson, John P. Biscotti Jr.; five sisters, Camella Dintini, Rose Palumbo, Rita McGlamery, Louise Graziano and Theresa McCarthy of Maine; and two brothers, Ralph “Jack” D”Elia and Joseph D’Elia.

Born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Theresa (Lopardo) D’Elia, she graduated from Worcester David Hale Fanning High School and began employment with Brewer and Company for many years and then W.T. Grant Company before retiring.

Mrs. Biscotti loved her family and cooked delicious “Italian Feasts” on Sundays and holidays that everyone can attest to. She was an avid Red Sox fan and kept abreast of their rivalry with the New York Yankees until her passing. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Academy Booster Club, a lifetime member of the Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann parish and its Golden Years Club, as well as a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held Saturday Aug. 27, from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Church, 24 Mulberry St., Worcester. Burial next to her husband will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday Aug. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
