Get ready for Irene

Get ready for IreneRegion – It's been quite a few years since our region has had to worry about a significant hurricane but that may change as of this weekend, with the onset of Hurricane Irene. The storm is projected to be anywhere from Category 1 to 3 by the time it hits Central Massachusetts on Sunday.

Hopefully, it will be just a rainstorm, ruining end of summer barbecues and not causing severe destruction. But it's always wise to remember not to panic but to be cautious. Check over your emergency supplies (flashlights, battery operated radio, candles, matches etc.). If the hurricane doesn's come to fruition, at least you'sl be all set for when the inevitable winter storms hit.

The town of Shrewsbury has a great deal of information on their website including a link to all the names of upcoming hurricanes. Click here for more information http://www.shrewsbury-ma.gov.

We’d also love to see your your pictures of your family during and after the storm. Please feel free to send them to [email protected] and we’ll feature some on our website. (But please, only if you can take them safely. We want our readers to be safe above all else!)
