Westborough's Fine Arts Parent Association starts new year

Westborough's Fine Arts Parent Association starts new yearWestborough – For over 30 years the Westborough Music Parents Association (WMPA,) supported the Fine Arts department in the school district. Starting its second year is WFAEA (Westborough Fine Arts Education Association), which supports the same department, including music, dance, art and theatre. Cathy Purcell is leading the executive board this year.

Over the summer membership applications were sent to high school families. Membership forms will be available online, as well at the other school open houses. Membership and the annual Ad Book income are the two largest fund-raisers for the

organization. The monies provide funding to staff members, help with ensemble requests, scholarships, etc.

The first meeting for this school year will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. All meetings will be held in the Westborough High School library. New members and volunteers are welcome to join. On the agenda are new ideas for activities and fund-raisers, as well as a possible reorganization of the annual Ad Book, which is distributed at all concerts at Gibbons School and the high school during the year.

For more information, contact Cathy Purcell at 1-508-366-0399 or vice president Judy Wilchynski at 1-508-870-1895. Future meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month (the October 2011 meeting will fall on the fourth Tuesday of the month).
