Louis J. Young, 68Westborough – Louis J. Young, 68, died peacefully under the care and comfort of his family at his residence in Westborough following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 17, 1943 in Lowell, the son of the late John W. P. Young and Bridget T. (Ahern) Young.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kristine C. (Hearn) Young of Westborough, formerly of Natick. He was the devoted father of Kelley B. McCarthy and her husband Edward H. McCarthy of Blue Point, N.Y.; John W. P. Young of Wayland; Colleen E. Anderson of Natick; Shannon M. Young of Boston; Michael P. Young of Newton; and Brian J. Young of Natick. He was the proud grandfather of Jack, Joseph, William, Nicholas, Emily and Emmett. He is also survived by his two brothers, John W. Young of Marlborough and Paul F. Young of Weston; three sisters, Emma E. Colcord of Southborough, Margaret A. Young of Marlborough and Theresa M. Tuttle of Gilmanton, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Young had been a resident of Westborough for the past four years and also resided in Natick for over 28 years. He spent his formative years in Weston and graduated from Weston High School with the Class of 1962.

He had a long and distinguished career for the Town of Weston with the Weston Fire Department. He was appointed a firefighter on January 14, 1963 and was promoted to Lieutenant on July 1, 1987. Sept. 2, 2001, he was promoted to Captain of the Weston Fire Department and retired July 29, 2007 after 45 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters and the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts.

Mr. Young was the owner and founder of the L. J. Young Contracting Company. His greatest passion was for all types of trucks, backhoes and also antique trucks. He loved country music and enjoyed being with friends and family. His greatest gift and accomplishment in his life was the devotion and love he had for his wife, Kristine, his children and his grandchildren and the time he shared with them.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 9, from 3 to 8 p.m., in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd. (Off Route 30), Wayland.

Family and friends may gather at the funeral home Saturday, Sept. 10, at 9 a.m., followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. the Parish of the Good Shepherd at St. Ann's Church, 124 Cochituate Rd. (Route 27), Wayland. Interment will follow in the Young family lot in Linwood Cemetery of Weston.
