Mosquito spraying tonight in Shrewsbury

Mosquito spraying tonight in ShrewsburyShrewsbury – After the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) confirmed earlier this week that a third sample of mosquitoes collected from a CMMCP surveillance site in the Oak Street area of town has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV), spraying in the area has been planned for after 8 p.m. tonight to reduce populations of mosquitoes. A map and street listing is available on the CMMCP website at www.cmmcp.org/SHREWSBURY2011.htm.

This is the same type of spraying, using the pesticide sumithrin, that has been done in town for many years under resident's request in targeted areas. Residents can call 1-508-393-3055 with any questions or concerns. Follow up spraying may occur if conditions warrant.
