Southborough/Northborough – It was standing-room-only Aug. 23
at the Southborough Library. Residents from Southborough and surrounding towns came to hear Wegmans representatives Kevin Russell (a 25-year Wegmans employee) and Jeff Kuczynski (a 14-year employee). The audience watched a slide presentation on the company's history and plans for the new, 130,000-square-feet Northborough location. Many asked questions including, how the store will fit into the local economy.
Wegmans is a privately held, family-owned business that started in Rochester, N.Y., in 1916. The Northborough store will be its flagship Massachusetts location, to be followed by two more in Burlington and Westwood.
Wegmans expects to hire 600 employees in Northborough (part- and full-time) and still has openings; interested applicants can get details at www.wegmans.com/careers. The event was co-sponsored by the Southborough Business Network, the Southborough Economic Development Committee, Southborough Rotary and the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce.
