An Education Advantage at Algonquin: host families sought

Northborough/Southborough – For the third year, Algonquin An Education Advantage at Algonquin: host families soughtRegional High School in Northborough will be hosting several students from the Lessing Schule in Bochum, Germany, home of Bayer aspirin. These students look forward to participating in Algonquin classes for three weeks since they have heard from prior students visiting that “Algonquin” is the best school in the world.

Though German “gymnasium” schools are generally more advanced academically than our American high schools, their students learn core subjects but are often unable to experience the arts, athletics and other school activities they appreciate at Algonquin.

Educational, business professionals and U.S. Congress have all affirmed the value of gaining “cultural competency” through exchange programs. This program has also triggered entire academic years of study in Germany and abroad, much affordable travel to visit the international students” home countries and many long term friendships.

Loving host families are needed for these German teens from Oct. 16 to Nov. 6, 2011. Students are chaperoned by their two teachers, have full medical insurance and spending money, and a local coordinator is on call 24/7. Host families provide a loving home, meals and a bed. Host families gain insight into another culture, gain a global friend, earn 30 hours of community service and enjoy a wonderful experience.
