Clayton Rock, 85Southborough – Clayton Rock, 85, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Janice (Newton) Rock.

Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the son of the late Clayton and Isabelle (Roche) Rock, he lived in Southborough for the past 58 years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. serving in World War II.

Mr. Rock was the owner and operator of Rocky's Landscaping in Southborough for the past 35 years.

Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Richard Rock of Southborough, Joshua Pechonis of Oregon and Paul Pechonis of Northborough; two daughters; Linda Gonynor of Arkansas and Lisa Dumont of Oregon; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews He was predeceased by one son, Peter Pechonis, and one daughter, Tracy Pechonis.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m., at Rural Cemetery in Southborough. At the family's request, there will be no visiting hours. Arrangements under the direction of the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home of Marlborough.
