Shrewsbury – The 2011 Spirit of Shrewsbury 15th annual 5K Road Race (3.1 miles) and Fun Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. (rain or shine), at Dean Park in Shrewsbury. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Entrance forms are available at the Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department, Town Hall, 100 Maple Ave., or online at www.SpiritofShrewsbury.com.
Entrance fees are $12 pre-event for adults or $15 race day, and $6 for those under 18 and walkers $6 pre-event or $10 race day. Checks should be payable to “Knights of Columbus #4181” and returned with the entry form to the Shrewsbury Parks & Recreation Department or the Knights of Columbus, 201 South Quinsigamond Ave., Shrewsbury, MA 01545. Pre-registration should be made by Friday, Sept. 23, prior to 4 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Shrewsbury Special Needs Program and Scholarship Fund.
Prizes of $25 will be given to male and female participants in each of the following three categories: under 18 years; 18 to 49 years; and 50-plus years. T-shirts will be provided to the first 200 entrants.
