Marlborough – Shirley M. (Burnap) Parmenter, 81, died early Saturday morning, Sept. 17, 2011, after a long illness. She was the wife of Melvin Parmenter, to whom she was married for 64 years.
Born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late Frederick and Antonia (Lemay) Burnap, she lived in the cityall of her life.
Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Bill Parmenter of Marlborough; two daughters, Audrey Auld of Florida and Sally Steel of Shrewsbury; one sister, Lorraine Purdy of Marlborough; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Burnap, and her grandson, Bobby Steel.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m., in the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery of Marlborough. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Monday, Sept. 19, from 4 to 7 p.m.
