Mary B. Corazzini, 77Shrewsbury – Mary B. (Fitzgerald) Corazzini, 77, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, with her family gathered by her side, at The Health Center at the Willows of Worcester. Her husband of 52 years, Leo R. Corazzini, died Aug. 19, 2009. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Arthur and Joseph Fitzgerald and Theresa Caputo.

Born May 15, 1934, in Worcester, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Delia (Marinan) Fitzgerald. She was a graduate of the former Ascension High School, class of 1951, where she was voted “May Queen.” She married Leo R. Corazzini in 1957 at Ascension Church and, as newlyweds, moved to her husband's native Shrewsbury, where they would later raise and educate their children, that year.

Mrs. Corazzini began working at Paul Revere Insurance Company and later as a secretary for many years for the Diocese of Worcester in the office of its annual Bishop's Fund. She was a talented and accomplished pianist and organist and was a voracious reader. She belonged to the Town Democratic Committee and Saint Anne's Church.

Her late husband had a long career in both local and state politics. He served on the Town of Shrewsbury School Committee and its Board of Selectmen and held the position of State Representative for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the 11th Worcester District. Mrs. Corazzini was always present and very active in each of his campaigns and remained his number 1 fan and supporter.

Her family offers words of gratitude to the staff of The Willows for the loving tender care they provided to Mary while a resident.

She leaves her three children, Sharon M. Corazzini and her husband, John H. Donovan III, of Westborough and Gail M. Corazzini and Paul F. Corazzini, both of Shrewsbury; her daughter-in-law, Margaret (McLaughlin) Corazzini of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren, Chiara E. and Alexander J. Corazzini, both of Shrewsbury; and nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mrs. Corazzini's life by gathering for calling hours Thursday, Sept. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, and again at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, before leaving in procession to Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
