Joseph A. Stukonis, 75Marlborough – Joseph A. Stukonis, 75, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth A. (Spilva) Stukonis of Marlborough.

Born in Worcester and raised in Waltham, son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Slabacauskas) Stukonis, he attended local schools in Waltham. He was veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps until being honorably discharged in 1957.

Mr. Stukonis was a longtime meat cutter, working for the former Waltham Super Market in Waltham, and later was employed by Star Market Supermarkets at several locations, including Sudbury and Natick. He retired in 1993. He spent many years as a coach in the Marlborough Youth Baseball program and was a former member of the American Legion, Post 191 of Sudbury.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Mark Stukonis of Marlborough, Kenneth Stukonis and his wife Denise of Hudson, James Stukonis and his wife Carolyn of California, Dawn Goulet and her husband Glen of Hubbardston, Ann Goulet and her husband Craig of Hudson, and Deborah Babine of Northborough. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and his many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Stukonis in 1989; his grandson, Craig Goulet Jr. in 2009; and his many sisters and brothers.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery of Marlborough. Family and friends may attend calling hours Friday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Flowers may be sent or donations in memory of Mr. Stukonis may be made to the Craig S. Goulet Jr. Memorial Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, 10 Technology Dr., Hudson, MA 01749.
