Hudson, N.H. – Margaret “Peg” Patricia (Herward) Caruso, 88, passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. She died in her Hudson, N.H. home surrounded by her family, who were her joy in life.

She was the daughter of the late James and Julia Herward and lived most of her young life in Newburyport before moving to Marlborough with her late husband, Joseph Caruso of Marlborough. Several years ago, she moved to New Hampshire to live with her daughter and her husband.

Mrs. Caruso is survived by her sons, Daniel Caruso and Patrick Caruso of Marlborough; her daughter, Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Ferns and her husband Laurence Ferns of New Hampshire; her daughter-in-law, Pamela Caruso; and her son-in-law, Visarl Yourk. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erin Fitzpatrick of Virginia, William Fitzpatrick of New Hampshire, Kathryn Colainni of Maryland, Rachel and Joseph Caruso of Taunton, Michael Ferns of North Carolina, and Kathryn Gendron of New Hampshire. She also had one great-granddaughter.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 8 a.m., from the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home of Marlborough, followed by a funeral mass at 9 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting Hours at the funeral home are Friday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m.
