Shrewsbury Open Space & Recreation surveyShrewsbury – The Town of Shrewsbury is developing its 2011-2012 Open Space and Recreation Plan. This Plan is necessary to qualify for State reimbursement programs for acquisition and protection of important open space. A survey is being conducted in order to understand the needs and concerns of residents of Shrewsbury regarding its open space and recreational facilities.

“Open Space” in this survey is defined as “public and privately-owned lands which are important for a variety of reasons, including recreation, agriculture, forestry, or simply because of their scenic qualities and their contribution to the overall character of the town.” Faced with significant growth now and in the future, open space planning will help us preserve open space while allowing development to occur that is consistent with the character of the Town.

The public survey is available to be taken online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/shrewsburyosrp, through the Town's website or taken by hand. Hard copies located at the Municipal Office Building, Shrewsbury Senior Center and Shrewsbury Public Library.

A public forum will be held in March 2012 to share the survey results and gather additional comments. Residents are invited to join in, listen to the thoughts of other residents, take a look at the draft plan and provide additional comment.

The survey be completed by Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011.
