Green Marlborough to walk Desert Conservation Land Oct. 1Marlborough – Green Marlborough will hold its next hike Saturday, Oct. 1, starting at 9 a.m., at the Desert Conservation Land. The trail system is named for its glacial sand deposits and scrub pine forest, and has 615 acres of woodland trails and streams.

The hike is two to three miles long. Hikers should dress for the weather and trail conditions; wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring a hiking stick if needed. To reach the Desert Conservation Area from Route 20 in Marlborough, turn onto Concord Road, which runs in between Firefly's restaurant and the 1-Eleven, and stay on that road for a few miles. You will pass the Marlborough Country Club (on both sides of the road), Ghiloni Park on the right and mostly residential neighborhoods and a cemetery the rest of the way. There is a fork in the road and the parking area for The Desert is just before it on the right..
