Marlborough Senior Center announces upcoming programsMarlborough – The Marlborough Senior Center has announced a variety of ongoing and upcoming programs for seniors, including a new exercise class, Yoga Samba Dance with Rosangela Woodworth, which will be held Tuesdays at 5 p.m. at the senior center.

Yoga Samba Dance

Yoga Samba Dance is a healing practice of Yoga, meditation and dance blended in a joyful and friendly way, suitable for all fitness levels. Yoga Dance helps one to connect mind, body and spirit; reduces stress; and builds flexibility, strength and fitness. For Spanish and Portuguese speaking seniors, other interested seniors are welcome to come try this all-encompassing mind and body exercise experience.

Blue Plate Special Each Monday

TJ's of Ashland provides a lunch for the senior center every Monday at 12:45 p.m. The popular home-cooked meals include a meat, vegetable, starch, bread and butter, dessert and a drink for $4. Seniors are encouraged to bring a friend of any age for half price off the cost. The menu for Oct. 3 includes Salisbury steak. There will also be 50/50 and door prizes to give away. Seniors should RSVP by 12 p.m. the Friday before by calling 1-508-485-4692.

Upcoming Events

Friday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m., Tina Bemis of Bemis Farms and Nursery will be leading one of her very popular workshops on designing your own cornucopia centerpiece for the fall holidays. All greenery, containers, flowers and fruit will be provided, and all participants will leave with their own fall centerpieces. A donation of $5 is requested. MetroWest regional Transit Authority Informational Meeting

Thursday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m., the MWRTA will be at the senior center for people to register for a Charliecard, which allows seniors and those disabled to ride at a reduced fee of 70 cents. This informational meeting is open to the public.

Did you know you can go to Solomon Park Mall, Target (East) or as far as Framingham to the Christmas Tree shop, Natick Mall for 70 cents one way? You don's have to call ahead just get on the bus route and the bus driver will pick you up, but don's forget your Charliecard. To register for this special card you must bring your Medicare card. Also, the meeting will answer such questions as “How much does it cost to ride BuZy Bee?” and “Who is and who operates Buzy Bee?” as well as “What is the difference between Buzy bee and Dial-A-Ride?”

Three $10 Charliecards will be given away and other freebies supplied by MWRTA. If you would like to come early and get your picture taken, as well as register for your Charliecard you are welcome to come at 1:30 p.m. For more information, call 1-508-485-5692.

Other

An acrylic paint class is held every Tuesday, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., with instructor Helen Downey. Interested seniors just need to show up with their own paints.
