Marlborough holds Household Hazardous Waste Day Oct. 22Marlborough – Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, Marlborough residents can bring approved household hazardous waste to the Easterly Water Pollution Control Facility, 860 Boston Post Rd. East.

Items that will be accepted include acids/bases, furniture stains, pesticides, aerosols, household cleaners, photo chemicals, antifreeze, household polishes, poisons, auto batteries, household batteries, pool chemicals, brake fluid, kerosene, thinners, corrosives, lighter fluid, used motor oil, drain openers, paints (oil based),weed killers, flammables, propane tanks, wood preservatives, computers, monitors, TVs/VCRs, mercury thermometers (one digital thermometer replacement per family), mercury thermostats, and elemental mercury. In addition, usable clothing, paired shoes and blankets will also be accepted.

Items that should not be brought include asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), explosives, radioactives, drums, reactive or unstable materials, latex paint, tires medical waste, unknown or unlabeled materials, torn or soiled textiles, and unpaired shoes.
