Friends of the Shrewsbury Senior Center hosts John Root Oct. 25Shrewsbury – John Root, musician, educator and naturalist, will present a special musical program at the Shrewsbury Senior Center Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m.

Root sings a cappella or accompanies himself on the piano, and plays the flute, clarinet and saxophone. His repertoire features the best-loved songs of the first five decades of the twentieth century. The program will also include historical lore and reflections about the songs” lyrics, and everyone is invited to sing along. Root also welcomes requests for favorite songs. Bring a friend, or come and make a new friend, and enjoy a performance that will leave you singing and smiling. Refreshments will be served.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Shrewsbury Senior Center, Inc. and the Shrewsbury Council on Aging, and is supported in part by a grant from the Shrewsbury Cultural Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. The Shrewsbury Senior center is located at 98 Maple Ave.
