Ralph J. Manicini, 72Shrewsbury – Ralph J. Mancini, 72, died unexpectedly at home Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011.

Born on Aug. 3, 1939 in Worcester, a son of Italian immigrants Giuseppe and Marion R. (Paciello) Mancini, he was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart Academy. He earned his bachelor's degree from the College of the Holy Cross and his Master's in Education from Worcester State College.

Mr. Manicini taught English in the Framingham Public Schools in its middle schools for over 35 years before retiring in 2002.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Nancy R. (Sherry) Mancni, and his children, Joseph J. Mancini of Shrewsbury, Lisa M. Chapman and husband Charles of Douglas, Sherry A. Mancini of Shrewsbury, Marc M. Mancini and wife Karen Cramer Mancini of Shrewsbury, and Marlyce A. Morace and husband Darren of West Springfield. He was the much-loved “Papa” of Cassidy and Colleen Chapman, Amelia Mancini and Jason Morace, and also leaves his sister, Anna Daboul of Shrewsbury; his sister-in-law, Beverly Schugk of Utah; and nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mr. Mancini's life by gathering for calling hours Monday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Rd., On the Common, Shrewsbury, and again at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
