Marlborough -The Marlborough Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be participating, Saturday, Oct. 29 in the annual Scouting for Food campaign. This is Scouting's 24th year doing its annual Good Turn program.

During the day, Marlborough's Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownie troops and packs will distribute the familiar tan bags throughout the city. The collection bags are again sponsored by Price Chopper Supermarkets. Pick-up will be Saturday, Nov. 5, starting at 10 a.m.; donations should be left outside in a visible location early for easy pickup. All food donations will benefit the Marlborough Food Pantry, which has seen a 16 percent increase in need. Suggested items include canned vegetables, dry goods (cereals, rices, pasta), canned spaghetti sauces, juice boxes, coffee, tea and even diapers, baby food and toiletries. This year the scouts” goal is 11 tons. Last year, 10 were collected. Those who do not receive a donation bag can contact Jim Watson, city coordinator, at 508-662-1617 and leave a message.
