Wayside Inn hosts Battle of the Red Horse Tavern this Saturday
The Battle of the Red Horse Tavern takes place Saturday, Oct. 29, starting at 12 p.m., at the Wayside Inn.

Sudbury – The 3rd annual Red Horse Tavern Battle will take place Saturday, Oct. 29, beginning at 12 p.m., on the fields surrounding the historic Wayside Inn. Come and meet re-enactors from far and wide, and see an 18th century battle re-created right before your eyes.

Return to Revolutionary America as in a final attempt to crush the seeds of rebellion in Sudbury, the Crown forces have massed for one final, decisive battle. Aware of this, the Colonials have constructed fortifications, are determined to defend them at all costs, and will turn the Redcoats back. What weapons will they use, what strategies will they use, and who will survive this epic confrontation?

The day's schedule includes fife and drum music by the Sudbury Ancient Fyfe & Drum Companie at 12 p.m.; meet and talk with re-enactors at 12:15 p.m.; the armies form for engagement at 1:15 p.m.; and the assault on the fort begins at 1:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Longfellow's Wayside inn is located at 72 Wayside Inn Rd., Sudbury, and those attending should park in the designated area. For more information, e-mail [email protected], call 1-978-443-1776 or visit www.wayside.org.
